Obituary of Curtis Stanley CW3 Roberts

CW3 (Retired) Curtis Stanley Roberts, age 71, of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2008 in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, December 20, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Reverend William Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 Noon until service time. CW3 (Retired) Roberts was born July 20, 1937 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late Cecil and Ora Lee Raines Roberts. He grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and entered the Army in 1956, retiring in 1981. He was a Bronze Star recipient in Viet Nam, and 1974 Soldier of The Year at Fort Carson, Colorado. Mr. Roberts moved to Ozark following his retirement and started the R. O. T. C. Program at Pike County High School in Brundidge. He received his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Troy University. He and his son, Kent, attended Troy at the same time. Mr. Roberts was then employed with Civil Service at Fort Rucker as Operations Security Officer. He was a member of Sandy Hill Baptist Mission in Sand Hill, Louisiana. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Smith Roberts of Ozark; two daughters, Carrie Roberts and Angel Roberts of Ozark; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kent and Carol Ann Roberts of Montgomery, Tony Roberts of Clanton, and Corey Roberts of Ozark. one sister, Jean Ennis of Huntsville; and one brother, Wayne Vaughn of Watertown, Tennessee.
