Obituary of Edd Whitehead

Mr. George E. "Edd" Whitehead, age 83, of Ozark, died Sunday evening, January 14, 2007, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be graveside 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend Bill Hix officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Whitehead was born September 23, 1923 in Enterprise, Alabama to the late Jessie Levator Baston Whitehead and Alter Wayne Whitehead. Mr. Whitehead moved to Ozark in 1945 and worked as a Freight Agent for Seaboard-Coastline Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Whitehead was leader of Boy Scout Troop 21, and on the Ozark Housing Authority Board for many years. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Whitehead. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Bullard Whitehead of Ozark, one son, Edd Whitehead and his wife, Diana of Newton, four grandchildren, Eddie Whitehead and his wife, Shannon, Scott Whitehead and his wife, Sheila, Brad Whitehead, and Amy Kirkland and her husband, Jason, four great grandchildren, Jonathan Whitehead, Preston Whitehead, Katelynn Whitehead, and Logan Kirkland, one brother, James Whitehead and his wife, Rachael of Tallahassee, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
