Obituary of Luther Dorsey Tadlock

Mr. Luther Dorsey Tadlock, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Southeast East Health Medical Center. He was 83 years old. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, July 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Gregory Lay officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Bob Mitchell, Jared Mitchell, Bill Cobb, Larry Doster and Mike Strickland. Mr. Tadlock was born November 4, 1942 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Luther Willis Tadlock and Eula Craft Tadlock. His family moved to Ozark when he was an adult teenager, as his father would be the pastor here at the First Assembly of God Church. This is where he met the love of his life, Shirley Leora Strickland. They were married on July 10, 1965 and were blessed with 61 years together. During those years, they enjoyed traveling together, especially to celebrate their anniversary. They visited forty-nine of fifty states. Dorsey enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and stamp collecting. He also enjoyed raising cattle on his land until he was no longer able. Dorsey treasured fond memories of years passed with all his friends at the Asbury Hunting Club. His favorite hunting trips were out west where he took a prized ram, elk and antelope that were mounted and proudly displayed in his home. Late afternoon fishing in the pond on his property was one of his favorites. He retired following thirty-three years as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He served military families at Fort Rucker delivering their mail. Dorsey attended Marvin Chapel Assembly of God Church in Coffee Springs. In the past he enjoyed volunteering as a leader for the Royal Rangers Group. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Shirley Leora Strickland Tadlock of Ozark; one sister, Annese Chapin of Dothan; two brothers, Jerry Tadlock (Martha) of Dothan and Danny Tadlock (Karen) of Daleville; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Whaley (Larry) of Ozark, Carolyn Vance of Huntsville, and Janan Doster (Larry) of Newville; and brother-in-law, Bob Mitchell of Daleville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Marvin Chapel Assembly of God Church, 810 County Road 682, Coffee Springs, Alabama 36318; or to the charity of your choice.
