Obituary of Laura K. Reynolds

Mrs. Laura Kitchens Reynolds, age 79, of Ozark, died Tuesday evening, January 16, 2007, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, January 19, 2007, from Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hill and Reverend W. L. Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mrs. Reynolds was born June 18, 1927 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Mary Lou Chambliss Kitchens and Henry Grady Kitchens. She graduated from Oglethorpe High School in 1944. Mrs. Reynolds met and married the late Floyd Hays Reynolds and moved to Ozark in 1955. She worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker until her retirement in 1984. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Kitchens. Survivors include three sons, Michael Frank Reynolds and his wife, Betty, Stephen Hays Reynolds, and Jeffrey Keith Reynolds and his wife, April, all of Ozark, two sisters, Billie Athon of Leslie, Georgia and Evelyn Grizzle of Warner Robbins, Georgia, four brothers, Ronnie Kitchens of Lily, Georgia, Tommy Kitchens of Atlanta, Georgia, Gene Kitchens of Lindale, Texas, and Bob Kitchens of Santa Fe, New Mexico, one brother-in-law, Woodrow Reynolds of Cataula, Georgia, eight grandchildren, Robert Reynolds, Celeste Johnston, Jennifer Patterson, Matthew Reynolds, David Hays Reynolds, Brooklyn Grafton, Allen Blackmon, and Brian Blackmon, five great grandchildren, Kelbey Reynolds, Carter Reynolds, Savannah Patterson, Tyler Patterson, and Tanner Johnston. The family would like to express a special thanks to her special caregivers, Lillie Sanders and Kathy Cotton, her Church family at Ridgecrest Baptist, and to Community Hospice. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360, or to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 415 James Street - Suite D, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
