Obituary of Will Ivey Andrews

Mr. Will Ivey Andrews, age 81, long-time resident of Dale County, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at his home in Ozark following and extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Randy Taylor, Reverend Roger Stone, and Reverend W. L. Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in Southside Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, March 11, 2008, from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M. Will Ivey was born on October 10, 1926 in Daleville to the late Ray and Annie Jane (Warrick) Andrews. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served his country in World War II on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier. After discharge, he went into business for himself opening a service station and later an auto parts store in Daleville. In 1975, after selling his business, he retired to the family farm in Ozark. Surviving relatives include his wife of 46 years, Voncile Glover Andrews of Ozark; son, Don Stork and his wife Janet of League City, Texas; daughter, Connie Stork Hataway and her husband Ferrell of Birmingham; daughter, Ivy Lynne Andrews of Rome, Georgia; son, Mark S. Andrews and his wife Andrea of Kernersville, NC; a sister, Frances Andrews King of Enterprise; a niece, Ginger King Alford (Larry); a great nephew, Patrick Alford; seven grandchildren, Mary Beth Farris (Joe), Jennifer Peloquin (Heath), John Michael Stork (Amanda), Angie Trantham (Chris), Drew Hataway, Abby Lynne Andrews, and Thomas Will Andrews; and eight great grandchildren. The family would like to express its appreciation to Community Hospice for the care and kindness they showed to Mr. Andrews during his illness. Serving as pallbearers will be Ferrell Hataway, Drew Hataway, John Michael Stork, Larry Alford, Patrick Alford, and Bill Compton. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to Southside Baptist Church, 901 South Highway 123, Ozark, Alabama 36360, where Mr. Andrews was a member.
