Obituary of Ira Clay Crowder

Mr. Crowder was born December 8, 1938 in Bessemer, Alabama. Mr. Crowder entered the United States Army in 1957, served one tour in Vietnam, and retired as a Staff Sergeant following 20 years of service. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), two Overseas Bars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, German Bronze Marksmanship Badge, German Silver Marksmanship Badge, and Army Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club and an avid ham radio operator since 1963. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, President of the Methodist Men's Club, and operated the Church sound system for several years. Mr. Crowder also retired from Dyncorp following 20 years, where he worked in avionics. He enjoyed Alabama Football, spending time using the computer, and NASCAR Racing.
