My grandmother was a compassionate person, not only to her grandchildren but to everyone. I miss you terribly grandmother but I am glad you no longer suffer in physical and emotional pain but I miss your stories of youth, how you remember Native American people who lived near you when arrowheads were laying about in easy view and how fascinated we were to hear. Even more, how you loved school and wanted college for all of us. Yes, grandmother we listened. Also, in my childhood, how you loved running the fish ponds when they were open to the public because you loved people. It made me love the fish ponds. You were everything anyone could want in a grandmother and I still remember you making my favorite brownies and how I loved helping you with the scuppernong vines. In the past few years as I knew her time with us was short, I would envision her running thru green fields (like the ones near her home) with her Heavenly Father, for she never had a good, kind father which was always a grief to her. I know she is with her Heavenly Father now who greeted her smiling as he embracing her as His daughter. Also, how she will get to see her little brother Benjamin who died at 18 months and she missed so terribly. I pray to inherit her God-centered way of life and her gift of prayer. More than anything, thank you for showing me what a relationship with God was about, it guided me into my own.

My grandmother was huge part of my life. I have so many wonderful memories of time spent with her and my granddaddy at their home, at the fish ponds, and on trips to the Smokey Mountains. I will always miss her first words to me every time she saw me, "Shug, come hug my neck and give me some sugar!" Her deep faith in God was an example to me that I carry with me to this day. Thank you for that Grandmother, and all deep, sincere love you had for all of us. We miss you but know you are well again and happy in your new home. Wait for me, I will see you soon. Dear Grandmamma, I will never forget the day Grandaddy died you said "I guess Huey is feasting with the King now". I am so glad that you have now taken your rightfull place at the King's table, and that now you are also feasting. I am sad that you have left us, but I am so glad that you are finaly home, where you have longed to be for such a long time. I forgive you for your hurtfull words and I know you forgive me for not being able to see past them. I love you so much and can't wait to see you in the "Sonshine".
