Obituary of James Lamar Clark

Mr. James L. "Jimmy" Clark, 71, of Newton, died Friday, October 8, 2004, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Sunday, October 10, 2004 in Newton United Methodist Church with Reverend David Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time. Mr. Clark was born June 28, 1933 in Newton, graduated from Newton High School, and was a member of Newton United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He worked as a Sales Manager for numerous nurseries in the area. Then he and his wife owned and operated Southland Nursery for the past 20 years. Mr. Clark was a loving father and grandfather, and an avid Alabama football fan. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Ellis Clark, Newton, one daughter, Brenda Helms, Newton, a special daughter-in-law, Terri Lynn Clark, Dothan, two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Allen Clark, and Jeffery Lamar and Laura Clark, of Dothan, two sisters, Linda Clark McGee, Newnan, Georgia, and Gloria Beasley, Dothan, seven grandchildren, Heather Tidwell, Dothan, Anthony Helms, Ashford, Melody Clark, Eric James Clark, Garrett Lamar Clark, Nathan Handley, and Zeke Handley, all of Dothan. Three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2346 West Main Street, Suite 3, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
