Obituary of Mary Emma Lisenby

Mrs. Mary Emma Blackman Lisenby, a resident of Ozark Health and Rehabilitation center, and a longtime resident of Ozark, died late Thursday, December 2, 2004, following a lengthy illness. She was 88. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, December 5, 2004, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Dr. Thomas A. Leggett, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Ariton. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2004. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jackie Heath, 2315 East County Road 36, Ozark. Born on July 15, 1916, Mrs. Lisenby lived all of her life in the surrounding area. She was the daughter of the late James Henry Blackman and the late Elizabeth Helms Blackman. She married James Paul Lisenby on December 23, 1939. They were married 41 years upon his death in August 1975. She worked for several years at Dale County Hospital and worked until the age of 75 at Whaley's Department Store on the Square in Ozark. She and her husband were very involved in Sacred Heart Singing, and was a long-time member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven sisters, and four brothers. Surviving relatives include five daughters, Larry and Gaynelle Mixon, Ozark, Robert and Gayle Kelley, Enterprise, Jackie and Paula Heath, Ozark, Vince and Beth Fresquez, El Paso, Texas, and Teri Parker, Ozark, seven granddaughters, Frank and Janet Butler, Enterprise, Andy and Brooke Grantham Kogutz, Midland City, James and Shannon Robertson, Dothan, David and Robyn Ridgeway, Newnan, Georgia, Brandy Heath and Scarlett Butler, Ozark, Ellie and Amy Parker, Ozark, two grandsons, Mike and Becky Mixon, Ozark, and Christopher Fresquez, Austin, Texas, eight great-grandchildren, Emma and Brennen Grantham, Meaghan Densel, Justin, Austin, and Katie Ann Mixon, Jackson and Conlan Ridgeway. Several nieces, nephews, and close friends also survive. Serving as active pallbearers will be; Mike Mixon, Christopher Fresquez, Frank Butler, James Robertson, David Ridgeway, James Earl Kelley, Andy Kogutz, and Charles "Buddy" Grantham. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Center Ridge Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Jeff Johnston, 4789 North Hwy 123, Ariton, Alabama 36311, or Westview Heights United Methodist Church, P.
