Obituary of Sylvia Alvilda Herring

Ms. Sylvia Alvilda Banks Herring, 70, of Ozark, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday evening, March 24, 2017, from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Ms. Herring was born April 22, 1946 in Bristol, Virginia, to the late Charlie Banks II and Daisy Inez Charles Banks. She served in the United States Army for five years and worked as a secretary in Kaiserslautern, Germany for two years. Ms. Herring lived in various places around the world while her former husband served in the United States Army. She had lived in the Wiregrass area for the past twenty years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donica and John Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia; one son and his fiancé, Lawrence Herring and Donna; one sister, Cassandra Banks of Norfolk, Virginia; three brothers, Rodney Banks of Portsmouth, Virginia; Ernie Banks of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Wayne Banks of Dallas, Texas; Five grandchildren: Camille Herring; Jasmine Herring; Kayla Herring; Kristopher Herring; and Celine Mobley; and two great grandchildren: M`iana Kimbrough and Mariah Herring.
