Obituary of Theldon Ted Byrd

Mr. Theldon Ted Byrd, 61, of Grady, Alabama, formerly of Ozark, died Saturday, September 23, 2017, in Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend James Bell and Reverend Charles (Chuck) Francisco officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.
Mr. Byrd was born July 1, 1956 in Ozark, Alabama. He worked as a Corrections Officer at Ventress Correctional Facility for thirty years until his retirement in 2011. He was a Master Mason of Claybank Lodge 908 and Anna Norton Lodge 569, also a member of the Shriners and Nights Templar. Mr. Byrd was also a member of the South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Baxley Byrd; two daughters, Tracy Bowman (Jamie) and Ashley Ledbetter (Kevin); grandchildren Hunter Bowman and Kylie Bowman all of Grady, Alabama; and his mother, Katie Margaret Streit of Ozark. He was preceded in death by his father, O. L. Streit; his grandfather, Ervin Huey Taylor; and his grandmother, Georgia Mae Taylor.
