Obituary of Oliver Dowling Kingsley

Mr. Oliver Dowling Kingsley, Sr., age 89, of Ozark, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, November 18, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Joe Reams, Reverend Marty Hamilton, Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither, and Reverend John Bart Kingsley officiating. Interment will follow in Claybank Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening. His body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Friday. Mr. Kingsley was born July 22, 1916, in Ozark to the late Elizabeth Dowling Kingsley and Oliver Franklin Kingsley. He was married to his wife of 64 years, Frances Parker Kingsley, on April 7, 1940, in the First United Methodist Church. Frances and Oliver's wedding took place just prior to the Sunday morning service and was the first wedding in the new Church sanctuary. Mrs. Kingsley preceded him in death in 2004. Survivors include one daughter, Carroll Kingsley Davie, Anniston, one son and daughter-in-law, Oliver Dowling Kingsley, Jr. and his wife, Sally Yeaman Kingsley, Birmingham, Alabama, six grandchildren, Amy K. Hayworth, Betsey K. Johns, Abby Y. Kingsley, Benjamin O. Kingsley, Caroline Davie, and Robert F. Davie, Jr., four great grandchildren, Luke K. Hayworth, Samuel B. Hayworth, William O. Hayworth, and Jacob M. Johns, three sisters-in-law, Mildred Deese Kingsley, Evelyn Mixon Parker, and Mildred Stowers Parker. nine nieces, Bitsey Kingsley, Kay Kingsley, Berta Kingsley Blackwell, Melissa Parker Paul, Linda Parker Yglesias, Jeannie Parker Centeno, Sharon Parker Miller, Karen Parker Smith, and Randy Parker Matthews, seven nephews, Phillip Kingsley, John (Bart) Kingsley, Frank Kingsley, Tom Kingsley, Jeffery Parker, Eddy Parker, and Bob Parker. The John Wesley Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ozark Building Fund, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360, or to the Claybank Cemetery Fund, P. O.
