SGM Donald Linus Smith, (United States Army Retired), age 79, of Ozark, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Thursday, April 7, 2011, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with United States Army Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Mr. Smith was born July 13, 1931, in Paradise, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles Linus Smith and Grace Mary Devine Smith. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1979 as a Sergeant Major. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Suzan Stokes Smith of Ozark;
two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Sue Smith of Ozark, Deb and Wes Cull of Tampa, Florida;
and two sons, Douglas Charles Smith of Chipley, Florida, and Randolph Duane Chandler of Ft. Pierce, Florida.
