LTC Ruth Roberts Snellgrove, (United States Army Retired), age 101, of Montgomery, formerly of Ozark, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, December 18, 2010, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Larry Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with full military honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Snellgrove was born October 30, 1909 in Cold Brook, New York, the daughter of the late John Thomas Roberts and Lillian Wilt Roberts. Ruth graduated from Faxton Hospital School of Nursing in Utica, New York in 1932 and did Post Graduate work at Boston Lying Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She did both general and private duty nursing in the Utica area before entering the Army Nurse Corp in January of 1943. Ruth served in Florida, Utah, and Texas before going to New Guinea and the Philippines in 1944 with the 51st General Hospital Unit. After World War II she served in New York, The Philippines, Germany, Colorado, and Hawaii until her marriage to Seth Snellgrove in 1957. Ruth and Seth were married for 22 years until his death in 1979. She lived in Ozark from 1957 until moving to Montgomery in 1994. Ruth was a past member of Ozark Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery. She was a Charter Member of the Dale Medical Center Volunteers and the Retired Army Nurses Association. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Seth D. and Rebecca Snellgrove of Montgomery; and one sister, Pricilla Whitman of Clinton, New York. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westview Memorial Cemetery Association, P. O.
