Obituary of Steve Monk

Mr. Steve Monk, age 41, of Ozark, died Monday, December 13, 2010, in a Birmingham hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, December 17, 2010, from Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Gilroy, Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither, and Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Friday.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday.
Mr. Monk was born April 10, 1969 in Ozark and lived in Montgomery during his early years. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1987 and made his home in Ozark since that time. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Kirkland Construction and previously for Klapal Construction. Steve enjoyed duck and dove hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He was an avid Alabama football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Calhoun Monk of Ozark;
one daughter, Hadyn Ford of Ozark;
one stepdaughter, Magan Ford Owens and her husband, Steven of Albertville, Alabama;
father and mother, Harvey and Sandy Monk of Ozark;
biological mother, Hildegard Winter of Sun City Center, Florida;
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Martha Calhoun of Cullman, Alabama;
two step sisters and one brother-in-law, Susie and Kennie Glass of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Pam Ralston of Opelika;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Delisa Calhoun of Cullman, Alabama;
two half brothers and one sister-in-law, Jamie and Donna Royal of Ozark and John Royal.
Several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews also survive.
