Obituary of Grace Nichols Greene

Mrs. Grace Nichols Greene, age 97, of Plantation, Florida, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, September 24, 2010, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Bill Hix officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening, September 23, 2010. Mrs. Greene was born August 18, 1913 in Nicholsville, Al. to the late Flossie and James Nichols, She graduated from Judson College and moved to Ozark in 1935 to teach. She met and married her late husband Henry M (Booster) Greene. They were married 58 years. She was an Ensign in the Coast Guard (WAVES) during WWII. Mrs. Greene worked for Social Services at the end of her career. She was a 60 year member of the Ozark Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Mrs. Greene moved to Plantation, Fl. in 2003. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry M (Booster) Greene, a brother and sister. Survivors include one daughter - Janet Greene Ratzlaff of Parker, CO; one son - Jimmy Greene and his wife Debra of Plantation, FL; five grandchildren - Andrew, Terry, Tyler, Ashley and Kelsey; and one great grandchild, Brayden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ozark Baptist, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Covenant Village Benevolent Fund, 9211 West Broward Blvd., Plantation, Florida 33324.
