Obituary of Janie Pittman Green

Mrs. Janie Pittman Green, a resident of Chancellor, Alabama, died February 24, 2010 at her home following an extended illness. She was 96 years young. Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Friday, February 26, 2010, from Bellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Dudding officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Bellwood Baptist Church Friday from 1:00 P. M. until 2:30 P. M. Otherwise the family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Archie Fondren, 502 Carol Street in Hartford. Mrs. Green was born December 11, 1913 in Coffee County to the late Susie Harriet Wigham Pittman and Wade Tom Pittman. A lifetime native of Bellwood, Janie was a homemaker and a member of the Bellwood Baptist Church. She was married to the late Luther Clarence (Luke) Green for seventy-one years. They were the proud parents of nine children. In addition to her parents and her husband, Janie was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha Green Auston and Donald Auston; her son, Jerry Green; and four grandchildren, Mark A. Fondren, Daniel W. Green, Amelia S. Auston, and Ann Green. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Archie Fondren of Hartford, Jean and Ron Sanders of Chancellor, Joan and Lomax Martin of Coffee Springs; four sons and daughters-in-law, Luther and Rose Green of Montgomery, Bobby and Helen Green of Prattville, Earl and June Green of Bellwood, Thomas and Kathy Green of Chancellor; daughter-in-law, Sandra Green of Sebring, Florida; one sister, Dot Oliver of Enterprise,; one sister-in-law, Frances Pittman of Clarksville, Tennessee; and special friends, Donnie and JoAnn Sanders of Chancellor. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bellwood Baptist Church, P. O. Box 70, Bellwood, Alabama 36313; or to Wiregrass Hospice, 1800 Hwy 84 West, Opp, Alabama 36467. Service Information
