Obituary of Kimberley VanNewkirk

Mrs. H. Kimberley VanNewkirk, age 90, of Ozark, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009, in Westside Terrace Healthcare Center in Dothan.
Funeral services will be graveside at 10:00 A. M. Saturday, September 19, 2009 in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Reverend John Ross officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M. Friday.
Mrs. VanNewkirk was born September 1, 1919 in Frankfort, Ohio to the late Dr. Homer Arresta Dennewitz and Helen Lillian Stewart Dennewitz. During her younger years she lived in Chillicothe, Ohio and Washington, D. C. She worked in Washington, D. C. as a census secretary and as an executive secretary to Congressman Bob Wilson from California. She then went overseas and worked as an executive secretary to the Commander General of the armed forces in Korea. Following her retirement, she moved to New Jersey and then to New York City where she worked with Chase Manhattan Bank as an exclusive account manager. Mrs. VanNewkirk was an excellent seamstress and an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, George Preston Kauffman and Frank VanNewkirk, one sister, Dortheria Watham, and one grandson, Christopher Duffy.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Charles Roberts of Ariton, and Rebecca Duffy of Denver, Colorado;
one sister, Eileene Devore of Silver Spring, Maryland;
one brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Jean Dennewitz of Rockville, Maryland;
four grandchildren, Starr Bowman, Charles Roberts, Jr. and wife Mercy, La`Shana Agerton, and Shawn Duffy;
five great grandchildren, Morgan Bowman, William Matthew Agerton, Christopher Roberts and wife Meagan, Andrew Roberts and wife Erin, Charles William Roberts, III;
and one great-great grandchild, Hannah Rose Roberts.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Westside Terrace Healthcare Center in Dothan, and a very special thanks to Dr. Paola Bass.
