Obituary of Kathryn Jenkins Sheppard

Mrs. Kathryn Jenkins Sheppard, age 94, of Ozark, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Saturday, June 27, 2009, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Christian Eckert and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Sheppard was born December 22, 1914 in Panama City, Florida to the late Julia Elizabeth Herring Jenkins and Allie E. Jenkins. She grew up in Dothan and attended Dothan City Schools. In 1935 she married her late husband, Robert Burns "Shep" Sheppard, and moved to Ozark where he owned and operated Sheppard's Jewelry Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, the Women's Society of Christian Service, the Ozark Garden Club, and was active in the Literary Club and the Gray Ladies. Mrs. Sheppard was an avid bridge player, loved to fish, and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ella Mae Kingry, and one brother, George Jenkins.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and James Reeves of Ozark;
one niece, Beth Northington of Dothan;
two grandchildren, Jean Andrews Zane and husband, John "Jay" of Roanoke, Virginia, Robert G. "Bob" Andrews and wife, Michelle of Ozark;
six great grandchildren, John Michael and Christopher Zane, Robert, Kathryn, Adam, and Aaron Andrews;
one great-great grandchild, Aiden Zane;
and a special caretaker, Lois Griffin.
