Mr. Ray Dillard, age 96, of Ozark, died Saturday morning, August 19, 2006, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday. Mr. Dillard was born August 18, 1910 in Dale County to the late Lena Mae Andrews Dillard and Orlander Siegler Dillard. He and his son owned and operated The City Market in Ozark, which was established in 1888. It was the second oldest family business in Dale County until it's closing in March of 2000. For several years he was a cattle dealer, and served as Fire Chief of Ozark Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church, a Charter Member of Claybank Masonic Lodge #908, and The Woodman of the World. Mr. Dillard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jones Dillard, and his sons, Kimmie Dillard and Sidney Paul Dillard. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Young and her husband, Johnny of Ozark, one son, Billy Dillard and his wife, Janice of Ozark, seven grandchildren, Marianne Albritton of Ozark, John David Young of Luverne, Susan Hastings of Ozark, Christopher Young of New Brockton, Shelia Palughi of Gautier, Mississippi, Billy Ray Dillard, Jr. of Houma, Louisiana, and Lawrence Dillard of Clayton, Delaware, two brothers, O. S. "Pat" Dillard and his wife, Sybil of Ozark, Dr. Amos D. Dillard and his wife, Ramona of Dothan. Eleven great grandchildren also survive.
