Obituary of Willie Mae Dykes Davis

Mrs. Willie Mae Dykes Davis, age 96, of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, November 9, 2005, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, November 11, 2005, at Skipperville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Forrest Weekley and the Reverend Adam Trambley officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P .M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Her body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Friday. Mrs. Davis was born April 25, 1909 in Dale County to the late Mary Lee Sanders Dykes and Jesse Levi Dykes. Mrs. Davis accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of six and joined Skipperville United Methodist Church where she had remained a devoted member. At her death she was the oldest living member and had been a member for the longest period of time. She had served as the Adult Sunday School Teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. Her family was the delight of her life. Her husband, Millard F. Davis, one son, Millard R. "Shine" Davis, and two grandsons, Stephen Davis and Bill Davis preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Faye Davis Huey and her husband, Thomas, Ozark, one daughter-in-law, Sue Davis Ozark, grandchildren, Thomas J. Huey, III and his wife, Lindy, Cleveland, Tennessee, M. Jenifer Huey, Knoxville, Tennessee, Jane H. Trambley and her husband, Adam, Warren, Pennsylvania, and James Andrew Davis and his wife, Anna, Ozark. Six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Skipperville Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 235, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
