Obituary of Marie Williams Powell

Mrs. Marie Williams "Trixie" Powell, 86, of Cullman, formerly of Napier Field, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, May 11, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Tallahassee following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow in Grimes United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mrs. Powell was born May 5, 1919 in Geneva County to the late Pearl Kirkland Payne and John Shelley Payne. She had been a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Liveoak, Florida since 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sons, James Williams and Kenneth Williams. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Williams and wife, Patricia, and Allen Williams, all of Taylor, Alabama, five daughters, Reba Alford and husband, Marvin, Liveoak, Florida, Merle Lewis, Tallahassee, Florida, Christine Garceau, Lakeland, Florida, Hautense Basinger and husband, Carlton, Cullman, Alabama, and Kathy Gonzales of Texas, two sisters, Gladys Horchen, Newton, and Lula Mae Carden, Columbus, Georgia, three brothers, Frank Payne, Blackshear, Georgia, Houston Payne, Columbus, Georgia, and Gelette Payne, Napier Field, 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
