Obituary of Mazzie Lee Harper Nickerson

Mrs. Mazzie Lee Harper Nickerson, age 78, of Ozark, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will 1:00 P. M. Saturday, April 12, 2014, from The Greater Old Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Titus Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Mrs. Nickerson was born February 10, 1936 in Dale County to the late Holton Harper and Annie Mae Gissendanner Harper. She was a devoted member of Greater Old Salem Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Matron and Ladies Aide. Mrs. Nickerson enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Nickerson; and one daughter, Annie Carol Robinson. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary F. and Reynaldo Holder, Eva M. and Patrick David, and Angela Ruffin all of Ozark; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Willie J. Nickerson of Ozark, Frankie L. and Gayle Nickerson of Dothan, Nathaniel Nickerson of Ozark, Benjamin C. and Barbara Nickerson of Ozark; one sister, Frances Rodgers of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy Lee Harper of Atlanta, William and Valencia Harper of Los Angeles, CA; her special friends, Alice White, Jimmy L. Brantley, Myrtis Ingram, Ethel B. Carlisle, Mavis Griffin, Flora Pearson, and numerous other friends. Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Service Information
