Obituary of Jean Cooper Stokes

Mrs. Jean Cooper Stokes, age 80, of Ozark met her Jesus on January 14, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the Sanctuary of Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve King officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary of the Ozark Baptist Church from 12:00 Noon Thursday until service time at 2:00 P. M. Mrs. Stokes was born June 30, 1933 in Ariton, Alabama to the late Wilson Colvie Cooper and Marwood Weed Cooper. Mama Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lived her life to serve her family and others. She was a faithful member of Ozark Baptist Church. She spent countless hours at ball fields and the dance studio cheering on her family. God, her family, and her dear friends were her greatest treasures. Mama Jean leaves a legacy of love. She is survived by her husband of 61 1/2 years, Royce (Jack) Stokes; her three beloved sons, Jackie (Marcie), Steve (Beth), and Greg; much adored grandchildren, Kelli, Tara, Natalie, and Dustin; precious great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emmaline, Blake, Blaine, Bryson, and Sawyer; one brother, Bobby (Mary) Cooper; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Cindy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's and Youth Ministries of Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, AL 36360.
