Obituary of Mavis A. Davis Cochran

Mrs. Mavis Ailleen Davis Cochran, age 89, of Newton, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, March 23, 2012, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Clarence Watson officiating and her grandson, Justin Cochran, giving her eulogy. Interment will follow in Pea River Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clio, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 12:30 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Cochran was born November 28, 1922 in Barbour County to the late Aaron Ford Davis and Ethel Mae Phillips Davis Wilson. Upon the early death of her father, her step-father, Mr. W. D. Wilson, raised her from her early childhood. She lived in Louisville for several years, then in Montgomery, and in Newton for the past sixteen years with her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Cochran was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making things with her hands. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Dykes.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Patrick of north Alabama; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jamey and Sandra Cochran of Newton, Lewis and Dianne Carter of McDonough, Georgia. Eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and two special nieces also survive.
