Obituary of Anneliese Long
Mrs. Anneliese Betty Long, age 89, of Ozark, Alabama, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Ozark with Reverend Michael Lawler and Reverend O’Neal Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Saturday morning from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Active pallbearers will be her grandson, Brad Long, and her great grandchildren, Dorian Chancey, Chase Morrill, Jack Chancey, Jason Chancey and close family friend, Quincey Sullivant.
Anneliese, known as Ann by her friends, was born March 24, 1930 in Nurnberg, Germany to the late Ernest and Rosa Glassle. Shortly after World War II in 1949 she married John Edward Long and moved to the United States. When John retired from the military in 1968, they settled in Ozark, Alabama and she became a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She served on various committees in the church, and she was dedicated to God, her church and her family. She adored her three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son Herbert Long; nephew, Marion Long; niece, Linda Long; Nephew, Bob Long; and one of her closest friends, Jan Friend.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Long of Ozark; her daughter, Marilynn (Steve) Silavent of Ozark, Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Angie Long of Ozark, Alabama; the light of her life was her three grandchildren, Holly (Mark) Chancey of Ozark, Alabama, Brad (Julie) Long of Pike Road, Alabama and Jessica (William) Sanders of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; eight great grandchildren, Dorian Chancey, Chase Morrill, Jack Chancey, Edie Chancey, Jason Chancey, Libby Sanders, Anna Long and Ellie Long; seven nieces and nephews, Polly Marie Teele, Judy Everett, Cathy Bock, Bill Long, Gene Long, James Long, and Jim Long;
Close friends, Quincey Sullivant, Lydia West and Theresa Sherman. A host of cousins and other dear friends also survive.
