Obituary of Billy Hancock

Mr. Billy Joe Hancock, 73, a resident of Ariton, died early Wednesday, June 26, 2019, in Dale Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Tim Sewell and Chaplain Chester Davis officiating.  Interment will follow with Full Military Honors in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M.

Mr. Hancock was  born June 29, 1945 in Clayton, Alabama to the late Marvin Franklin Hancock and Minnie Lee Starling Hancock. He grew up in Columbus, Georgia, moved to Texasville, Alabama, and then moved to Dale County.  Mr. Hancock graduated from Carroll High School in 1963.  He worked with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and with the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier for thirty-nine years. He served in the Alabama Army National Guard for thirty-nine years and nine months until his retirement.  Mr. Hancock was a member of Morgan Baptist Church for thirty years where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Belita Henderson Hancock of Ariton;  two sons, Tony and Paula Hancock of Skipperville, and Gene Hancock of  Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren, Ashli Guck (Dustin) and Shelby Enfinger; four great grandchildren, Ruston Guck, Madelyn Guck, Avrie Guck, and Bae Elizabeth Enfinger.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas  66675-8517.
