Obituary of Robert Dale Ellingwood

SFC Robert Dale Ellingwood (United States Army, Retired) a resident of Enterprise, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at his home. He was 74 years old. Funeral Services will be held 9:00 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022, from Christ Community Church in Enterprise, with Pastor Joey Turman and Pastor Shawn Crosby officiating. Interment will follow with full Military Honors in Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Wicksburg, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family is requesting that attendees wear patriotic colors. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Christ Community Church. Robert was born on July 31, 1947 in Cherry Point, North Carolina to the late Hap and Edna Chandler. He graduated from Beaufort High School, Beaufort SC in 1966, before joining the US Army. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam as well as other duty stations for a total of 24 years of service. The U.S. Army recognized Robert for his honorable service with two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars as well numerous other awards. After his retirement from the Army, he managed several Auto Zone stores eventually becoming a Commercial Adviser for the company. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cecelia Ellingwood; two children Brandy Johnson (Ken) and Robert Ellingwood Jr. (Torri); five grandchildren, Kinley Johnson, Alexa Johnson, Mckenzie Johnson, Macie Ellingwood, Ezra Ellingwood; two sisters, Donna Chandler and Trisha Chandler; and a number of extended family.
