Obituary of Marie Montgomery McAfee

Mrs. Marie Mae Montgomery McAfee, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, November 23, 2022, at her home. She was 91 years old.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there are no public services planned for Mrs. McAfee.
Mrs. McAfee was born July 3, 1931 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to the late James Montgomery and Melda Mae Kephart Montgomery. She married Frederick Fenton McAfee, Sr. on February 7, 1953 and lived in several places around the world while he served in the United States Army. In 1969 they made their home in Ozark where she was an active member of Campground Baptist Church. Mrs. McAfee was a registered nurse and worked at Lyster Army Hospital at Fort Rucker until her retirement. She enjoyed painting and many different crafts. She was an active member of the Dothan Gem and Mineral Club. She specialized in cabochon, making and selling poinsettia jewelry, pearl and gemstone jewelry, and ming trees. Mrs. McAfee won many First Place, Best of Show and two silver plates for her entries at the National Peanut Festival. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred McAfee, Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lloyd (Tom) of Enterprise and Linda McAfee of Dothan; two sons, Fred McAfee Jr. (Donna) of Arizona and James “Jim” McAfee (Pat) of Ozark; daughter-in-law, Nancy Shelton of Ozark; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
