Obituary of James Albert Whitman
Mr. James Albert Whitman, a life-long resident of Ozark, died Thursday night, March 14, 2024 at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan with his loving family by his side. He was 66 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitman will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Andrews and Ms. Jamie Logan Mathews officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. . Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Brand, Jeffery Pritt, Harley Lewis, J. C. Hyde, D. J. Hyde, Justin Stafford, Shane Whitman, Cody James, Rickey Lowery and Terry Robinette.
James was born August 1, 1957 in Opp, Alabama to Faye Farmer Whitman and the late Roy Howard Whitman. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies were hot rod cars, motorcycles and mud racing. James was a true inspiration to everyone. He fought a good fight with cancer but never complained.
James was preceded in death by his father, Roy Howard Whitman.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Karen Coursey Whitman; the child they loved as their own, Claudia Scott; his mother, Faye Farmer Whitman; two brothers, Myron Whitman (Debbie) and Joe Whitman; two sisters, Barbara Wambles (Tommy) and Becky Stafford (David) all of Ozark. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who he loved very much also survive.
