I just saw this notice regarding Preston’s passing. Preston was one of the first persons I met at Valencia College. My boss, Keese Perry, took me to Osceola campus to meet my peers. Preston asked me where I was from. I said Texas and asked him where he was from. He said LA. I said Los Angeles? He gave a look , said No Lower Alabama. Are you familiar with a geography of the United States? I absolutely loved working with Preston. He definitely was a very unique, smart person who cared for his friends. My condolences to his family. Like so many, I met Preston when I came to work at Valencia College. Most people that I met early on always finished their welcome with the question, "Have you met Preston yet?" It made sense after the day came when he walked into my office and invited himself in. It began with a discussion of "geographical differences", him being from Alabama and me being New York.
I turned out that I answered more questions for him than from my hiring committee. Somehow, I passed and received his approval and got invited into the coffee circle and eventually to the golf weekends. Continuous laughs from then on. I held his work in high regard as so many did and enjoyed my time around him. Definitely one of a kind.
Condolences to the family.
Warmly

I truly loved the old man. Preston gave me my first job and made sure I was taken care of. He mentored my and guided me and treated me like his own daughter. We had many talks about life and he taught me how to handle some of the hardest issues in life. He was there to show love when my son, Jon Jon, was born and I remember the conversation we had after her died. Preston had a great sense of humor but also a heart of gold. He was a tough man but fair. For all of the knowledge, wisdom and encouragement he gave me, I could never thank him or repay him. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

PR, as he was sometimes called, was the most knowledgeable Community College financial Director in the state of Florida. He knew the regulations backwards and forwards and actually helped craft some of the policies. I know when a technical question arose, the go to person was Preston.
Even though I worked in the admissions office, I learned a lot from Preston. I remember when I first met him and asked where he was from, he told me LA. When I said really, he answered Lower Alabama. I later learned that Preston was always right. When he would finish expressing his point of view, he would ask” Am I right Or am I right?” I also learned that each year when his dad and two of his buddies came to stay with Preston for a week while they fished in Lake Tahoe, they brought two ice chests filled with live Blountstown Red Wiggers. Florida worms just didn’t measure up.
I’m going to miss Preston‘s wisdom, personality, friendship, and that smile.
With love and condolences to Drew and Marla,
Chuck Drosin

Tim and Letia Williams,
At times I would travel to Newton to hunt deer on the old brick yard. Preston's mom and dad were always kind. His dad often offered to provide a picture so I would know what to shoot if I saw a deer. It was always a good visit. Rusty, Preston's best friend chewed the tongue off my hunting boot on one trip. That did not change my luck though. Preston helped me adjust to the VCC life and I was thankful he did. He will be missed.

I have fond memories of working for Preston as a college student at Valencia Community College in the Financial Aid office. He was a very patient boss and understanding of my busy college schedule. What I remember most about him were his constant jokes and kidding around with me. I also enjoyed spending time with him and my Dad occasionally as they have been close friends for a long time. I was sad to hear about his passing and know he will be greatly missed.

A Tribute to Preston—Mike Break
Preston and I were good friends. Along with a couple of other pals, we would have coffee together and kid around every day for the many years we worked at Valencia College.
Preston and I enjoyed playing golf, and we helped organize some golf tournaments/luncheons while at the college. We also went on a yearly 3-day golf weekend. During those weekends we would always do a lot of silly things—Preston would feed chicken to an alligator and I would take Preston’s dinner voucher when he wasn’t looking. Invariably, he would accuse me of taking it and I would always claim he lost it. We would go through this same ritual every year.
When Preston is reunited with his parents, family and friends in heaven, I know there will be his pet dog Rusty and a couple of his “pet” goats standing by his side. He had a kind heart and did a lot to help students in Valencia Community College as well as many friends.
We love you, Preston!

While Preston and I did not work together, directly, at Valencia's West Campus, we did get to play a lot of golf together. He was very generous and fun loving. He had a great sense of humor and was able to keep our group of golfers entertained on each of our outings. Mary Ann and I are saddened by his passing. Paul Kinser

I have such good memories of Preston over the years, especially when he came back to take care of his parents. He and his Dad were a force to deal with, no one could out them. Preston was always interested in what you were doing and encouraging and supportive of me. I will always treasure those times together. We know his soul is resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with his loved ones that preceded him to Heaven. We thank God for the life of Preston Delano Rosser.
