Q: How did you meet Betty?
A: I've known Betty since before she married my brother. We lived on the same road in Union City, Pa. She was couple years older than me but she was always so cute. She and Barre (my brother) married and we became family. She was pregnant when she sang at one of my high school dances. I remember when Lisa was born. Betty was special. Cute as a button. Aunt Betty loved her family and she would always try to come home when she could.The second picture was from our vacation in 1977. I remember like it was yesterday.

I was going my Grandma Shorts after school on the bus to spend the night about 70 years ago. Aunt Betty and I would set in her closet and we would tell each other what we would do with million dollars. Also,I would see her in the hallway and say hello Aunt Betty and she would whispers to me not to call her Aunt Betty.

Aunt Betty was a big part of our family. She was my mom’s best friend. They were the same age. I can remember growing up our get together at their house in the pool. Aunt Betty was a great cook and beautiful seamstress. I remember swimming in their pool as a small child with my cousins Brent and Lisa. Wow that seems like yesterday. Then I showed my children what a great aunt and uncle they had. You will be missed. I love you.

I can’t believe I am writing this. I remember calling you last year to tell you I was getting married and how excited you for us! That you had hoped that you were able to be there. I remember calling you last month wishing you a happy birthday. you gave me incredible advice that day, saying to celebrate every day like it’s your birthday because you never know when it’s going to be your last. You are truly a beautiful and amazing woman! You were always so full of love, light and laughter! I love you so much Aunt Betty. I know that you are no longer suffering and are up there with God and Grandma Lilley having the time of your life. I love you with all my heart you will truly be missed!

I cannot believe I’m writing this! Just last year I remember calling you to tell you that I’m getting married. I remember how excited you were for us! I called you on your birthday and you were laughing and had amazing advice to me! “Celebrate every day like it’s your birthday because you never know when it will be your last”. I’m going to miss you so much Aunt Betty!! I know you’re no longer suffering, you’re with God, and Grandma Lilley! I love you so much! You will truly be missed!

Betty was such a special person! Many years ago she got me started with doing machine embroidery and some sewing. She was a very talented lady in all she did. I miss her and her encouraging words to keep on going. Whenever I saw Barry at Walmart or other places I always asked about her. She absolutely loved her family. You will always be missed Betty! Much love and prayers to her family and friends.
