Obituary of Lorena Outlaw Peters

Mrs. Lorena Outlaw Peters, age 87, of Ozark, died Friday evening, September 2, 2005, at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, September 4, 2005, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart and Reverend Timothy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Saturday evening. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. Mrs. Peters was born November 26, 1918 in Dale County to the late Gypsy Lee Culverhouse Outlaw and Thomas Aaron Outlaw. She retired from the Ozark City Board of Education as lunchroom manager at Thompkins Early Childhood Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and took great pleasure in cooking and caring for her family. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Louie Peters, Ozark, three daughters, Shirley Walker and her husband, Royce, Cathy Outlaw and her husband, Joe, and Sybil Kelley and her husband, Ronnie, all of Ozark, grandchildren, Greg and Terri Walker, Ozark, Gordon and Lissa Walker, Tuscaloosa, Gwyn and Tim Galloway, Skipperville, Gary and Lynda Walker, Ozark, Robyn and Will Mathison, Dothan, Lindsey Heath Ozark, Ami Heath, Ozark, Mollie Kelley, Ozark, and preceded in death by Winkie Outlaw, great grandchildren, Brent Walker, Kristin Walker, Ryne Walker, Alycia Galloway, Cara Galloway, Orin Galloway, Alex Mirabito, Amy Mirabito, Claudia Walker, and Callie Mathison. A special thanks from her family to her caregivers, Dora Martin, Annie Nickerson, Geraldine Newman, Pauline Taylor, Lesia McKenzie, and the Wiregrass Hospice Staff. The family has requested the omission of food and flowers.
