Obituary of Marianne G. Jackson

Mrs. Marianne G. Jackson, 83, of Daleville, died Sunday, January 28, 2018, at her home. A memorial service for Mrs. Jackson will be held 3:00 P. M. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Daleville First United Methodist Church with Reverend Lee Jones officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremation of Ozark directing. Mrs. Jackson was born August 4, 1934 in Bangor, Maine to the late Walter Tefft and Nellie Alworth Tefft. She worked with Civil Service for thirty years eventually as a Budget Analyst. She moved to Daleville in 1964 and had been active in the community since that time. Mrs. Jackson served as past president of the Board of Directors of the library and was recipient of the Daleville Woman of the Year Award. She was also involved with the Daleville PTA and Daleville Boy Scout Troop 30. She loved her family and her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands who both served in World War II and were Prisoners of War, Q. T. Jackson and Austin Gatlin; and her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Jeanette Tefft. Survivors include two sons, Hugh Gatlin and Charles Franklin Gatlin. One niece and eight nephews also survive. The family would like to thank her special caregivers for their love and concern. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
