Mrs. Merle Cordle Phillips, age 91, of Chatham, LA, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, December 5, 2013. Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Monday, December 9, 2013, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Old Tabernacle Cemetery in New Brockton. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until time for the service. Mrs. Phillips was born October 31, 1922 in New Brockton, Alabama to the late Lucius Daniel Cordle and Alma Lee Bryant Cordle. She moved to Ozark in 1952 and was a member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Phillips worked as a beautician for thirty years until her retirement. Following her retirement, Mr. Phillips moved to Chatham, LA to live with her sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oyer "Washie" Phillips; two sisters, Eloise C. Spillers and Lucille Davis White; and one brother, Charles B. Cordle. Several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins also survive. Service Information
