Mrs. Betty Jean Spivey, age 70, of Ozark, died Sunday morning, December 14, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Reverend Robert McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ground Cemetery in the Post Oak Community, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening. Mrs. Spivey was born March 2, 1938 in Kentucky. She has made Ozark her home for fifty years, working with Dale County in the Court House and then managing the Dale County Animal Shelter until her retirement. Mrs. Spivey was a member of The First Holy Ground Church. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, James O. Spivey of Ozark; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Eloise Spivey of Columbia, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nell and Fredson Odom of Albany, Georgia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the The First Holy Ground Church, C/O Annette Bright, 216 Private Road 1339, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
