Obituary of Laura Stepp Osepchook

Mrs. Laura Stepp Osepchook died Monday, January 20, 2014, at her home. She was 94. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, January 24, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Laura was born September 7, 1919 in Martin County, Kentucky to the late Judge Henry Stepp and Maudie Bradford Stepp. She loved her family with unconditional love and devotion. Her sweetness and kind heart touch many lives as her heart was filled with love and joy by those who loved her . She always gave of herself unselfishly by word or deed to those she would meet. She loved God and read the Bible every night; Laura was a lifelong Baptist . We celebrate her life by the memories she gave to each of us, a legacy of love to her children and husband. Laura was a life member of the VFW in Winter Springs, Florida. She served as Chaplin of the Ladies Auxiliary, and was honored as a Flag Carrier in many VFW parades. She was also a member of Florida VFW Nuggets Drill Team. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one son, Donald Lee Dorton; his father, Henry Dorton; one son-in-law, Jimmie F. Lewis; brothers, Malcom Stepp and Hulen Stepp; sisters, Vernie Stepp Damron , Daisy Stepp Horn , Larnie Stepp Chaffin, and Hattie Stepp Kemplin. Survivors include her loving husband, Arthur John Osepchook Sr.; her children: Roy Clifford Dorton and wife, Sheryl, Dianna G. Dobbs, Dottie Lewis Warren and husband, Charles Warren Sr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Dorton; step-children, John Osepchook and wife, Joan, Phillip Osepchook and wife, Jeanne, and Merlin Osepchook; two brothers: Granville Stepp and wife, Geneva, and Landon Stepp; one sister, Evelene Stepp Smith; one sister-in-law: Olga Sealy and husband, Jim; Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends also survive. The family would like to thank Dale Medical Center Home Health Care; a special thank you to Judy Rice. Thank you to Dale Medical Physical Therapy, especially Danny and Luke whom she loved as her own family. Thank you to Community Hospice of the Wiregrass for their devotion and constant attention to Laura and her family. A special thank you to Kathy Johnson personally and her staff.
