Obituary of Zelona Byrd Harris

Mrs. Zelona Elizabeth Byrd Harris, age 92, of Ozark, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Saturday, October 1, 2011, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Bill Hix officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9:00 A. M. until service time.
Mrs. Harris was born January 23, 1919 in Dale County to the late Ewell Franklin Byrd and Mary Elizabeth Wallace Byrd. She and her husband lived in various places around the state before returning to Ozark to make their home. She was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and an avid seamstress. Mrs. Harris loved to garden and enjoyed special time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph C. Harris; three sisters, Nellie Jean Byrd, Bessie Mae Byrd and Claudie Belle Byrd.
Survivors include her husband, Roy C. Harris, Sr. of Ozark;
four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth Wigley of Ozark, Linda and Jimmy Wakefield of Anniston, Alabama, Sue and Louis Fleming of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Faye Bruce of Tupelo, Mississippi;
one son and daughter-in-law, Roy C. Harris, Jr. and Laura of Birmingham.
Fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
