Mr. Joseph Davis Laney, 60, of Ariton, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be graveside 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Ariton Cemetery with Reverend David Walsh officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Mr. Laney was born February 21, 1955 in Troy, Alabama to the late Joe Dean Laney and Dorothy Elizabeth Hoover Laney. He had worked with Arichem in Ariton for over thirty years. Mr. Laney loved fishing and Alabama football. Survivors include his wife, Karen McWhorter Laney of Ariton; one step-daughter, Tabitha McWhorter of Ariton; one step-son, Daniel McWhorter of Ozark; two brothers, Jim Laney of Dothan, Jeff Laney of Tallahassee; three step grandchildren, Destiny Pruitt, Audrie McWhorter and Allison McWhorter; one niece, Lauren Elizabeth Laney of Dothan; one great niece, Mia Alexandra Smith. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ariton Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Earl Thompson, 7147 Hwy 51, Ariton, Alabama 36311.
