Mrs. Margaret Hughes Watson, 82, of Skipperville, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, in Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Morgan Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Bersheba Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:30 p. m. until 6:30 p. m. Mrs. Watson was born January 6, 1932, in Skipperville, AL, to the late Frances Jewell Mathison Hughes and Carey Clayton Hughes. A graduate of Ozark High School, Class of 1950, she was employed as a Civil Servant in the Medical Supply Office at Fort Rucker for 32 years. She was an active member of Morgan Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities throughout her life. Having a special gift of hospitality, she was widely known for her Sunday lunches—veritable feasts that managed to include everyone’s favorite food. She loved preparing this meal and feeding the preacher for as long as she was able. Everyone was welcome at her table, and a host of family and friends gathered there each Sunday. Mrs. Watson’s favorite statement was, “I love everybody,” and she truly did! She had a special love for children, and after she retired, she enjoyed volunteering in the children’s reading program at George W. Long School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B. Floyd Watson; two brothers, Eldridge Hughes and James Merlin Hughes; and two sisters, Betty Castleberry and Jeanelle Ham. She is survived by three children: Jeff (Lillian) Watson of Skipperville, AL; Jean Watson of Leary, GA; and Joe (Neva) Watson of Kinsey, AL; four grandchildren: Johnny, Bob, Kacie and Whitney Watson; two great-grandchildren: Sierra and Hunter Watson; four sisters: Shirley (Ed) Woodie of Ozark, AL; Gwen (Mel) Harju of Benton, LA; Linda Gail (Jesse) Rowe of Jacksonville, FL; and Dinah (John) Curtin of Jacksonville, FL. A host of beloved nieces and nephews also survive. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Castleberry, Bob Culp, Levin Ham, Ed Woodie, III, Johnny Watson and Bob Watson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bersheba Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Linda Paramore, 8458 County Road 68, Skipperville, AL 36374; or to Willson Hospice House, P. O. Box 1828, Albany, GA 31702. Service Information
