Mrs. Ruby Merle Caraway Newton, age 85, of Ozark, died early Tuesday morning, January 20, 2009, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Thursday, January 22, 2009 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P. M. Thursday until service time. Mrs. Newton was born December 26, 1923 in Dale County to the late Harley Caraway and Minnie Irene Scarbrough Caraway. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Major Junior Newton. Survivors include nieces, Linda and Kenneth McDonald of Ozark, Betty Newton of Orlando, Florida. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
