God brought Bill into my life when I accepted a job at Ft Rucker and joined the AL National Guard. Bill and I shared many times together. Not only was he a mentor to me in the cockpit, Bill was also a spiritual leader. He and I traveled and shared a hotel room in Mobile AL when we went there for drill. I always wanted to fly with Bill and as long as I was a co-pilot I did. I think the feeling was mutual. I used to give Bill a hard time about him looking at the gauges under his bifocals and he would return the banter by telling me just wait until I turned 40. I regret not staying in touch with Bill and will always have warm thoughts about our time together. His life was the standard that I could only hope for.
