Obituary of Gladys Black Circle

Mrs. Gladys Black Circle, age 102, of Ozark died Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in the Chapel of Lanman Funeral Home in Kiowa, Kansas with her son, Reverend Harry M. Circle officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark will be handling local arrangements. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark Friday afternoon, January 2, 2009, from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Mrs. Circle was born September 26, 1906 in Saxman, Kansas to the late Harry Gordon Black and Cora Cynthia Ross Black. She attended school in Stafford, Kansas and Portales, New Mexico, graduating from high school in Kiowa, Kansas. She attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, and Southern College at Lakeland, Florida. Following graduation, Mrs. Circle began her career as a school teacher. She married her late husband, Luther McDonald Circle, on July 20, 1932, and began working with him on their farm, then at Circle Drug Store in Kiowa, Kansas. She moved from Kiowa, Kansas to Ozark in 1990 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Circle had resided in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation since 2000. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Cleary and Helen Riggenbach, one brother, Ralph Black. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; Reverend Harry M. and Ellen Circle of Ozark; one sister, Lois Cantrell of Portales, New Mexico. Two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P. O.
