Mr. Buford J. Dean, age 86, of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, June 17, 2009, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, June 20, 2009 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mr. Dean was born June 12, 1923 in Dale County to the late John T. and Belle Loyd Dean. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, was a member of Ozark Baptist Church, and a retired carpenter. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He also was a dog breeder, raising German Schnauzer's. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie McCollough Dean, his brother, Elliott Dean, and his sister, Eveletta Dean Daniel. Survivors include two sons, Carl T. Dean of Ozark, and Terry Paul Dean of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; one stepdaughter, Patsy Diane Jones and husband Benny of Ozark; one stepson, Walter K. McClellan and wife Joyce of Lafayette, Louisiana.
