Obituary of Gladys Crawley Wallace

Mrs. Gladys Irene Crawley Wallace, age 78, of Ozark, died Sunday, August 24, 2008, in Oakview Manor Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Sister Christine Gassett officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Wallace was born November 19, 1929 in Coffee County to the late Alice Fay Jackson Crawley and George Crawley. She attended school in Coffee County and in Ozark. Mrs. Wallace worked in the sawmill industry in Abbeville for a number of years, and was a member of Holy Faith Mission Church where she sang in the church choir. She was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and garden, and enjoyed cooking poundcakes for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Wallace was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wallace, and her son, George Johnson. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kathrine Wilkerson of Ozark, Alice Faye and William Cawley of New Brockton, JoAnne Easterling of Ozark, Merle Norris of Andalusia, and Lillie B. Polson of Andalusia; two sisters, Mary Sue Fleming of Ariton and Lois Blue of Troy. Thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. Service Information
