Obituary of Jacob Hassell Griffin

Mr. Jacob Hassell Griffin, age 82, of Ozark, died Saturday morning, August 15, 2009, in Providence Home in Ozark.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, August 18, 2009, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Robert Bayne, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Echo, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening.
Mr. Griffin was born October 7, 1926 in Talladega County, Alabama to the late Robert Lee and Mary King Hassell Griffin. Following his service in the United States Navy during World War II, he worked with the Atlantic Coastline Railroad. He lived in Gulfport, Mississippi from 1952 until 1989, when he made Ozark his home. Mr. Griffin worked as an electrician, and was a member of Local IBEW #903 in Gulfport until his retirement. He attended Southside Baptist Church in Ozark. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bayne Griffin, and two brothers, James L. Griffin and Jack Griffin.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Griffin of Ozark, Wayne Griffin of Ozark, and Charles Griffin of San Antonio, Texas;
one brother, Frank Griffin of Birmingham, Alabama.
Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
