Obituary of Marion D. Monk

Mr. Marion Dowell “Jack” Monk, age 87, of Ozark, died Monday, May 27, 2013, in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, May 30, 2013, from Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Rick Patterson, Reverend Sammy Allen, and Reverend Jerry Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Mr. Monk was born March 22, 1926 in Dale County to the late Marion Nathaniel Monk and Avie Garner Monk. He graduated from Auburn University with a Degree in Forestry and worked with the State of Alabama Forestry Department until his retirement in 1983. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Hagler; his sister, Jewell Ford; and his mother-in-law, Ilene Snell.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ramona Snell Monk of Ozark;
one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Terry Tyler of Ozark;
two grandchildren, Peter Hagler of Birmingham and Philip Hagler of Ozark;
one sister, Mavis Grantham of Ozark;
and one brother-in-law, Bill Snell of Westminster, CO.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 291, Ozark, AL 36361; or to the Asbury Cemetery Fund, 2536 County Road 33, Ozark, AL 36360.
