Obituary of Lillie Mae Sasser

Mrs. Lillie Mae Turner Sasser, age 95, of Ozark, died Monday, September, 20, 2010, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Kenneth Earles and Reverend Thomas Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow in Holmes Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until service time. Mrs. Sasser was born March 19, 1915 in Ozark to the late John William Turner and Emma Pope Turner. During the majority of her adult life she lived in the Doster Community of Barbour County, and had lived in Ozark for the past eight years. Mrs. Sasser was a member of the Holmes Freewill Baptist Church and retired from the Van Heusen Corporation with twenty-one years of service. She was an avid homemaker, seamstress, gardener, and quilter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Sasser in 1976; two sons, Carroll T. Sasser and Farrell T. Sasser; and one great grandson, Bradley Russell Metcalf. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mae Jo and Robert Williams of Union Springs; one son, Charles E. (Tate) Sasser of Columbus; six grandchildren, Chris T. Sasser, Russell Metcalf, Michelle Sneddon, Kristal Renner, Angie Bien, and Eve Kilpatrick. Four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Holmes Baptist Church, C/O Pat Robinette, P.O.
