Obituary of Charles William Carroll

Mr. Charles William "Bill" Carroll, Sr., age 90, of Ozark, died early Friday morning, January 31, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, February 2, 2014, from the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Dr. Christian Eckert and Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Mr. Carroll was born August 6, 1923 in Dale County to the late Warner X. Carroll and Lillie Inez Brock Carroll. He served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1945. Mr. Carroll worked for Carroll Hardware in Ozark for 27 years. In 1974 he and his wife opened and operated Bill's Hardware in Ozark along with their son, Bill Jr., until Mr. Carroll's retirement. He served on the Ozark City Council from 1960 until 1976, and also served as mayor pro tem for a short time during the Goff Administration. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles William "Bill" Carroll, Jr. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Smith Carroll of Ozark; daughter-in-law, Paula Rigsby Carroll of Ozark; one sister, Florence Amanda Donaldson of Campbellton, FL; two grandchildren, Brad William Carroll (Darlene) and Dustin Charles Carroll all of Ozark; two great grandchildren, Kaylee Lyn Carroll and Colton Joseph Carroll of Ozark.
