Obituary of Leon Levaughn Nolin
Please share a memory of Leon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Leon Levaughn Nolin, a resident of Ozark who lived most of his life in the Rocky Head Community, made his journey home Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2009. He was 72.
A celebration of life for Mr. Nolin will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2009, from Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverend Paul McMonagle and Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Nolin's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening.
Leon was born on May 17, 1937, with the expectation of a brief life, but his love for life and others, and faith in God helped him overcome those odds. His life was a blessing and inspiration to all who knew him. He was never one to complain but always one to think of others. He remembered birthdays, always checked in on his family and gave back to others, and was a devoted caretaker for his mother. He loved nature - especially when it came to growing pepper plants, church, and flannel shirts. He will also be remembered for the writings he would give others.
A special needs student living in a time before special education, Leon attended Ariton School in a traditional classroom setting and successfully made it through the eighth grade. Leon was preceded in death by his father, J. D. Nolin, Sr.
Leon is survived by his Mother, Itheria Anderson Nolin of Ozark; his brothers, Charles William Nolin and wife Carolyn of Ozark, Virgil Nolin and wife Eula of Ariton, Dewey Nolin and wife Betty of Hartford, J. D. Nolin, Jr. of Foley, and Chester Nolin and wife Judy of Ozark. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
